Doug's best friend from high school, Ray Barone, is getting married and he wants Doug to be his best man. Doug is thrilled at the prospect, until he finds out that Ray plans to have his brother Robert as his other best man. Doug and Robert have never gotten along and Doug is worried about how this will affect the wedding.

Meanwhile, Carrie is excited about the wedding and wants to get a special dress to wear. However, when she discovers that her sister-in-law has the same dress, she becomes competitive and determined to outdo her. She drags Doug along to various stores to find the perfect dress and he becomes increasingly frustrated with her obsession.

As the wedding day approaches, tensions continue to rise between Doug and Robert. They argue over everything from the bachelor party to who will give the speech at the reception. Ray becomes caught in the middle and tries to mediate, but only makes things worse.

Carrie eventually finds the perfect dress and is thrilled with it, until she realizes that it is too tight. She tries various methods to lose weight quickly and becomes increasingly desperate. Her attempts culminate in a hilarious scene at the wedding reception.

Doug and Robert's animosity comes to a head during the reception when they both try to dance with the maid of honor. A fight breaks out and the wedding descends into chaos. Finally, Ray steps in and gives an emotional speech that brings the two best men together and restores the peace.

As the episode comes to a close, Doug and Carrie reflect on the craziness of the wedding and the importance of their own relationship. They share a romantic moment and realize that they are each other's best friend and constant support system.
