Doug and Carrie decide to repaint their living room because they are tired of the old color. They go to the store, pick out a color, and start painting. However, they quickly realize that painting is harder than they thought. They struggle with getting the paint to stick to the walls and end up with paint on their clothes and furniture.

Meanwhile, Arthur, who is supposed to be watching a neighbor's dog, accidentally kills it. He tries to cover up the death by staging a fake kidnapping of the dog, but the neighbor becomes suspicious and involves the police. This causes Arthur to become paranoid and he starts acting strangely around Doug and Carrie.

Back at home, Doug and Carrie's painting troubles reach a boiling point when they accidentally spill paint on the floor and have to figure out how to clean it up before it dries. They end up using a number of household items to try to remove the paint, including ketchup and toothpaste, which only make things worse.

As the episode progresses, Doug and Carrie's frustration with painting intensifies, and they start to take out their anger on each other. They argue about everything from the right way to paint to whether or not they should have even started the project in the first place.

In the end, things come to a head when they try to paint the ceiling and end up getting into an all-out paint fight. They end up covered in paint and exhausted, with the room looking worse than when they started.

Meanwhile, Arthur's situation comes to a head when the police show up at Doug and Carrie's house looking for him. Doug and Carrie are simultaneously dealing with their own paint fiasco and are initially confused by the police's presence. However, things quickly become clear when they learn about Arthur's role in the neighbor's missing dog.

The episode concludes with Doug and Carrie cleaning up the mess they made while painting and Arthur confessing to the accidental killing of the dog. The three of them come together to try to figure out what to do next, and ultimately decide to tell the neighbor the truth and take responsibility for their actions.

Overall, Paint Misbehavin' is a lighthearted episode that highlights the challenges of home improvement projects and the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions. With plenty of laughs and a few unexpected twists, it's a great addition to The King of Queens season 3.
