Ep 23. Eddie Money

Doug and Carrie are stressed out about money and are desperate for a solution. They come up with a plan to save money by renting the basement to Spence’s friend, Eddie. However, their plan backfires when they realize that Eddie is a huge burden. They quickly regret their decision to let him move in.

Eddie is an unemployed, lazy and inconsiderate slob who does nothing but eat, drink, watch TV and play video games all day long. He makes a huge mess in the basement and expects Doug and Carrie to clean up after him. Moreover, he constantly asks for money and refuses to contribute to the household in any way.

Doug and Carrie try to confront Eddie about his behavior, but he ignores them and continues to do as he pleases. Meanwhile, Arthur is thrilled to have Eddie in the house and spends all his time talking to him about his past experiences in the Navy.

As the tension between Doug and Eddie mounts, Carrie comes up with a plan to get rid of him. She suggests that they pretend to offer him a new job and a place to live in California, when in reality, they just want to get him out of their house.

The plan works, and Eddie is ecstatic about the job offer. He packs his bags and leaves for California. Although Doug and Carrie are happy to finally be rid of Eddie, they are left feeling guilty about lying to him.

Later, they receive a phone call from Eddie, telling them that he arrived in California and is having a great time. He thanks them for their help and says that he is grateful for the opportunity. Doug and Carrie are relieved to hear that Eddie is doing well, and they realize that their plan was not so bad after all.

In the end, Doug and Carrie reflect on the lessons they learned from their experience with Eddie. They realize that they need to be more responsible with their money and that they should not let their desperation lead them to make hasty decisions. They also realize that friendships are valuable and that they need to be careful not to ruin them in pursuit of financial gain.
