Ep 6. The Other F Word

The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 1 Episode 6, The Other F Word, sees Christine attempting to make new friends after being excluded from the 'mom clique' at her son's school. Christine's initial remedy is to organize a class trip to the Planetarium, but when she's not invited to the ensuing sleepover, she becomes convinced her son's new friend Max has a vendetta against her.

Determined to regain her place in the 'mom clique', Christine seeks some advice from her therapist, Dr. Max Kershaw. However, after apparently bonding over their shared name, Christine soon finds out that Dr. Kershaw had no intention of keeping their sessions confidential, and has been disclosing the details of their meetings to the other moms at the school.

Meanwhile, Richard attempts to deal with the onset of his two-day poker tournament by turning the kids' bedroom into a 'man cave', much to the dismay of his ex-wife, who strives to limit the impact of the competition on their son's life.

As Christine continues to pursue her quest for acceptance, she turns to Matthew for support, only to be rebuffed when he reveals that he's been attempting to distance himself from her in order to forge a new life for himself. Struggling to deal with this latest setback, Christine reflects on her relationships with her friends and family, and realizes a fundamental truth about her own behavior in the face of rejection.
