Washington Heights is a reality television series that airs on MTV. The show focuses on a group of young people who live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Each episode is about various group members' different trials and tribulations. The teenagers are all members of Manhattan's close-knit Dominican community and many of them have grown up with one another. They are mainly friends but the various relationships that they have with one another go through many ups and downs. Sometimes everyone gets along and sometimes there are fights and disputes among members of the group. There are nine different cast members on the show. J.P. is one of the leaders of the group. He is mellow, peaceful person and tries to resolve all the disagreements that occur within the clique. Reyna is a feisty girl and she is always ready to start a fight or end one. Frankie is an artist and poet. She has a sensitive soul that she tries to cover up with a tough girl attitude. Ludwin is also an artist and he and Frankie have feelings for each other but they never seem to act on them. Jimmy has dreams of being a professional athlete but he struggles with living on his own. His mother has addiction struggles and his father is currently in the midst of serving a long prison sentence. Jimmy is supported emotionally by his girlfriend Eliza, who is a transplant to the Heights. Rico is a pretty boy who has dreams of working in the entertainment industry. He is into music, modeling, and acting. When he is not dreaming of stardom, he is busy taking care of his younger brother. Fred is Rico's younger brother and he too dreams of stardom. Fred hopes to make a name for himself in the fashion world. Taylor is the brains of the group. She has an easy-going personality and tries to help her friends keep their problems in perspective. There is nonstop drama in the Heights. Ludwin and his girlfriend are constantly making up and breaking up. Reyna is trying to do her best to break up Jimmy and Eliza. Through it all, the teens try their best to make it out of their neighborhood.
