In The Originals season 3 episode 2, titled "You Hung the Moon," we see the aftermath of the Mikaelson's return to New Orleans. Klaus is still haunted by the memory of his father and his past actions. He makes a new deal with the witches, Lucien, and Aurora in an attempt to keep his family safe.
Meanwhile, Elijah hovers over his comatose brother, hoping that he will wake up soon. Hayley enlists the help of Marcel to try and find a cure for their daughter's curse. She also confronts Jackson about his reluctance to accept their daughter's supernatural heritage.
The episode also explores the dynamic between the returning Mikaelson siblings and their allies. There is tension between Klaus and Lucien as they vie for dominance, while Aurora seems to have her own agenda. Freya, the eldest Mikaelson sibling, is still trying to fit in with her family after being reborn as an adult.
As the episode progresses, we see flashbacks of Klaus and his relationship with the werewolf Hayley. We learn about their shared history and the bond that they share.
The climax of the episode occurs as the werewolves and vampires of New Orleans gather for the full moon celebration. Klaus and Hayley work together to try and cure their daughter, while Elijah confronts Lucien about his true intentions.
The Originals season 3 episode 2, "You Hung the Moon," is a thrilling installment in the series. It sets up the season's overarching plotlines and introduces new characters and conflicts. As always, the show's excellent writing and performances make it a must-watch for fans of the supernatural genre.
