Bart finds himself in hot water after pulling a prank on the whole town. In order to save his skin, he comes up with a lie that seems impossible to disprove. Meanwhile, Marge encourages Lisa to apologize to her friends for not being more supportive. Lisa is hesitant at first, but she eventually sees the value in admitting when you're wrong. The episode explores the themes of honesty, forgiveness, and the consequences of one's actions.

The episode starts with Bart playing a prank on the entire town by faking his own kidnapping. He leaves clues around town and sets up a ransom note, even going so far as to disguise himself as a criminal. The whole town bands together to try to find him, while Bart watches from afar and laughs at the chaos he's caused. But when Chief Wiggum finally catches him, Bart realizes that he may have gone too far this time.

Desperate to avoid punishment, Bart comes up with a bold lie – he says that he was actually kidnapped by a group of aliens who were impressed with his pranking skills and wanted him to join their crew. Of course, nobody believes him at first, but the more he talks about his "abduction," the more plausible it seems. Homer and Marge are skeptical at first, but eventually Homer starts to believe his son's story. He even encourages Bart to embrace his "alien side" and start pulling pranks on an intergalactic scale.

Lisa, on the other hand, is dealing with her own issues. She feels like she's been neglecting her friends lately, and she worries that they don't like her anymore. Marge encourages her to apologize for any hurtful behavior she might have exhibited, even if she didn't intend to be mean. Lisa is hesitant at first – after all, apologizing can be a sign of weakness, right? But she eventually sees the value in taking responsibility for her actions and trying to make things right.

As the episode progresses, Bart's lie starts to unravel. Lisa is the first one to discover that he's been making it all up, but when she confronts him, Bart doubles down and adds even more outlandish details to his story. The rest of the family is starting to get suspicious too, especially when they realize that Bart's "aliens" have the same names as his favorite TV characters. In the end, Bart is forced to come clean and apologize to the whole town.

Meanwhile, Lisa has successfully made amends with her friends. She admits that she wasn't always the best listener or the most supportive friend, but she truly cares about them and wants to be there for them in the future. Her friends appreciate her honesty and forgive her for any past mistakes. The episode ends on a positive note, with the family gathered around the couch and Bart vowing to never pull a prank that extreme again (at least, not without a better cover story).

Overall, "Sorry Not Sorry" is a classic episode of The Simpsons that explores some very relatable themes. Bart's lie might seem silly and over the top, but it's easy to see how anyone could get caught up in a web of deceit in order to avoid punishment. And Lisa's journey towards apologizing and reconciling with her friends is a reminder that even the best of us make mistakes sometimes. With its trademark humor and heartwarming moments, this episode is sure to be a fan favorite.
