In The Vampire Diaries season 1 episode 17, titled "Let the Right One In," the supernatural drama keeps going. Meanwhile, Damon is on a mission to kill his brother's true love, Elena, because he blames her for his own vampirism. In school, Caroline confronts Bonnie about the supernatural powers that Bonnie has been hiding. Bonnie shows her some tricks, and Caroline is amazed. They soon find out that Anna, a vampire who has been attending their school, is the one behind the recent murders. Anna reveals that she's looking for her mother, Pearl, who is also a vampire but has been trapped in a tomb for over a century.
Damon meets with Bonnie's grandmother, who tries to stop him from hurting Elena. She gives Damon a message from Stefan, who warns his brother to stop his attempts to kill Elena. Meanwhile, Stefan investigates the recent murders and finds evidence that the killer may be a vampire. He confides in Elena, revealing his true nature to her.
At the end of the episode, Anna tries to enlist Jeremy’s help in finding her mother by using her vampiric powers, but he is not interested. She then falls back on her original plan – to kidnap Elena as a threat to get what she wants. Stefan and Damon battle it out over Elena, as the latter is determined to kill her. The episode ends with a surprising reveal about the identity of the vampire behind the recent murders.
"Let the Right One In" is a thrilling episode that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. With the conflicts between the Salvatore brothers and the revelation of their true natures to Elena, the plot thickens even further.
