Ep 1. Growing Pains

Growing Pains is the season 4 premiere of The Vampire Diaries and it starts right where the previous season left off. Elena wakes up in the hospital after she drowned with vampire blood in her system. She's confused about what happened and why she's not dead, but Stefan and Damon assure her that everything will be all right and that they'll help her through the transition to become a vampire.

Meanwhile, Bonnie is dealing with the aftermath of using dark magic to save Jeremy's life. The side effects of using such a powerful magic are taking a toll on her body, but she's determined to keep it a secret from her friends. Jeremy is also dealing with his own issues, as he starts seeing the ghosts of his past girlfriends, Anna and Vicki.

At the same time, Matt is struggling to come to terms with the fact that all of his friends are supernatural and he's the only one who isn't. He's also dealing with the fact that his sister, Vicki, died and that he never got closure for her death.

The episode also introduces a new villain, Connor, who's a vampire hunter working for a secret organization called The Five. He's hunting down vampires in Mystic Falls and has his sights set on Jeremy, who he believes is a hunter too.

Overall, Growing Pains sets up the groundwork for the season by introducing new challenges and obstacles for the characters to overcome. Elena's transition to becoming a vampire will be a major theme throughout the season, as she tries to come to terms with who she is now.
