Elena and Rebekah engage in a mean-girl power struggle, until Rebekah finally reveals some of her family's ancient secrets and the violent past she shares with Klaus and Elijah. Meanwhile, Jeremy continues to struggle with the loss of his parents and his own mortality; Stefan tries to show Elena what it's like to start over and create a new identity; and Caroline and Tyler both learn some upsetting news about their families. Finally, Damon comes up with a new plan to deal with Klaus, but he quickly realizes that executing it will be a challenge.
