Ep 9. The Cell

In The Vampire Diaries season 5 episode 9, titled "The Cell," fans are taken on a journey that explores more of the lives of the vampires and other supernatural beings in Mystic Falls. The episode starts with Elena waking up in a cell, where she is being tortured by Dr. Wes Maxfield. Damon, who had been missing since the previous episode, had been captured by Dr. Maxfield and is also being held captive somewhere in the same facility.

Meanwhile, on the outside, Stefan strategizes with Caroline and Tyler on how to rescue their friends. Stefan also uses his vampire powers to sneak into Dr. Maxfield's office to try and steal some important research and files from him, which will hopefully give them some clues as to what Dr. Maxfield and the other vampire hunters are planning.

The episode is full of action and suspense as fan-favorite characters are put at risk and fight for their survival. As always, there are also plenty of romantic subplots woven throughout the episode. Caroline and Tyler bicker over their recent breakup, while Stefan and Katherine share a tender moment.
