The Walking Dead season 9 episode 7, titled "Stradivarius," opens with a group of survivors, including Michonne, Magna, Yumiko, and Luke, on their way to Hilltop. Along the way, Luke shares his passion for music with his new friends, including his knowledge of the Stradivarius violin and his dream of finding one in the post-apocalyptic world. Michonne remains skeptical, but Luke reminds her that civilization should still be about more than just survival.

They arrive at Hilltop, where they are welcomed by Tara and Jesus. The group catches up on recent events, including the disappearance of Eugene and Rosita, who left on a mission to contact a radio signal. Tara tells them that there have been whispers of a new group in the area called the Whisperers, but they have yet to encounter them.

Meanwhile, back at the Sanctuary, Carol and Henry are on their way to Hilltop with a new group of survivors. Carol is worried about leaving the Sanctuary unguarded, but Henry encourages her to have faith in the other communities. On the road, they are ambushed by a group of walkers, and Henry is nearly killed. Carol is shaken by the incident and begins to question her decision to leave the Sanctuary.

Back at Hilltop, Michonne confronts Jesus about his decision to bring in new groups without consulting the others. She worries that they are overstretched and that their safety is being compromised. Jesus defends his decision, arguing that they need to work together if they are going to rebuild civilization. Michonne remains unconvinced and tells him that she plans to take her concerns to the other communities.

As the night falls, Luke discovers an abandoned music store and convinces Michonne to go with him to investigate. Inside, they find an old guitar and start playing music together. Michonne takes a moment to let her guard down and opens up to Luke about losing her children and how it has affected her. But their moment of peace is interrupted by a group of walkers, and they are forced to make a run for it.

The next day, Tara asks Magna's group to help search for Eugene and Rosita, who have yet to return. Michonne agrees to join them, but warns that they need to be careful and stick together. They set out on horseback, and on the way, they come across a disturbing sight: a herd of walkers that have been flayed and left hanging from the trees. Michonne recognizes the gruesome display as the work of the Whisperers, and she becomes even more alarmed when they hear the sound of wolves in the distance.

After a tense encounter with a small group of walkers, the survivors reach a cabin where they find Eugene and Rosita. Eugene is badly injured, but they manage to get him back to Hilltop for medical treatment. Rosita tells them that they were attacked by a group of Whisperers, and that they are unlike anything they have encountered before. She warns them to stay away from them.

Back at Hilltop, Michonne meets with Tara and Daryl to discuss the Whisperers. Tara says that they need to prepare for a potential conflict, while Daryl argues that they should try to avoid a fight if possible. Michonne agrees to keep an eye out for any signs of the Whisperers, and to warn the other communities if they encounter them.

The episode ends with Luke playing his guitar for the Hilltop community, and Michonne watching from a distance. She reflects on Luke's words about the importance of music in rebuilding civilization, and begins to question her own beliefs about survival. As the night falls, a figure watching from the woods is revealed to be a Whisperer, suggesting that the survivors are not as safe as they thought.
