Uncle season 3 episode 1, titled "Father's Day", follows the story of Andy, an immature and unsuccessful musician who finds himself taking care of his 12-year-old nephew Errol after his sister and Errol's mother passes away. In this episode, Andy is forced to confront his own emotions and insecurities as he prepares to meet his estranged father for the first time in years.

The episode opens with Andy and Errol sitting in their living room watching TV when they receive a phone call from Andy's father, Malcolm. Andy is reluctant to answer the phone, but Errol encourages him to pick up. Malcolm informs Andy that he wants to see him and catch up on old times, which immediately causes anxiety for Andy.

Throughout the episode, Andy grapples with how he truly feels about his father. On one hand, he is angry at Malcolm for abandoning him as a child and leaving him to be raised by his emotionally distant mother. On the other hand, he craves his father's approval and love, and desperately wants to make a connection with him.

Meanwhile, Errol is dealing with his own father-related issues. He never knew his father, and feels left out when all of his friends celebrate Father's Day with their dads. Andy tries to be supportive of Errol's feelings, but his own issues with his father begin to cloud his judgement.

As the day progresses, Andy starts to crack under the pressure of the impending visit with Malcolm. He turns to his friend Sam for support, and the two of them spend the day drinking and reminiscing about old times. However, when Malcolm finally arrives, Andy must sober up and face his father.

The encounter with Malcolm is tense at first, with both father and son skirting around their true feelings and avoiding the elephant in the room. However, as the day goes on, they slowly start to open up to each other and have a genuine conversation.

This episode of Uncle is a poignant exploration of family dynamics and the emotional toll of absent fathers. The performances by Nick Helm as Andy and Elliot Speller-Gillott as Errol are both heartfelt and raw, and the writing is both funny and emotionally resonant. Overall, "Father's Day" is a standout episode of an already excellent show.
