Ep 2. Virgin Road

In Valkyrie Drive -Mermaid- season 1 episode 2, titled "Virgin Road," new residents are welcomed to the island of Mermaid, where a mysterious virus has given certain girls the ability to transform into weapons. While on the way to the academy, Mamori and Mirei are ambushed by a group of aggressive girls who they soon realize are after Mamori's "drive," the source of her powers.

As Mamori struggles to control her newfound abilities, Mirei attempts to protect her from the attackers. In the midst of the chaos, a new girl named Meifeng joins the fray, revealing that she too possesses the ability to transform into a weapon. With her assistance, Mamori and Mirei are able to escape the clutches of their enemies.

Back at the academy, Mamori and Mirei meet with the academy's headmistress, Lady J, who explains that Mermaid Island is a place for girls with the virus to live and train in a safe environment. She also reveals that there is a greater purpose behind the island's creation, involving a larger conflict between powerful organizations and the girls who possess the virus.

Meanwhile, Mamori and Mirei continue to adjust to their new lives, developing a stronger bond as they learn to rely on each other. However, their peaceful routine is disrupted once again when a powerful enemy threatens the safety of the island. Mamori and Mirei must confront this danger head on, utilizing their unique abilities in order to protect themselves and their fellow residents.

As the episode comes to a close, Mamori and Mirei reflect on their experiences and the challenges that lie ahead. They vow to continue fighting for what they believe in and to protect their new home on Mermaid Island.
