In season 7 episode 7 of What on Earth? entitled Ghost Town Terror, the team of experts and investigators explore the mysterious and eerie ghost towns of the Wild West. These abandoned towns once thrived during the Gold Rush era but are now desolate and untouched by human activity for decades. The episode takes viewers on a journey to unravel the secrets hidden within these ghost towns and the stories behind their decline.

The episode begins with the team investigating the ghost town of Bodie, California. Bodie was once a booming gold mining town, with a population of around 10,000 in the late 1800s. However, as gold reserves dwindled, the town's population began to shrink, and by the 1940s, it was completely abandoned. Now, the team is examining the strange phenomena that occur in Bodie, such as unexplained lights and the sound of footsteps echoing through its empty streets.

Next, the team travels to Garnet, Montana, another ghost town that was established in 1895 during the Gold Rush. Garnet once had a population of around 1,000 people, but like many other ghost towns, it slowly declined over time and was ultimately abandoned. The team investigates the mysterious disappearance of several of Garnet's residents and tries to uncover what may have caused the town's rapid decline.

Moving on from Garnet, the team makes their way to the ghost town of Rhyolite, Nevada. Rhyolite was established in 1905 and had a population of over 10,000 people at its peak. However, as with other towns, its fortunes took a turn for the worse, and by 1920, it was deserted. The team investigates the ruins of the town, which include a bank and a nearby abandoned train station, to shed some light on the events that caused Rhyolite's downfall.

Back in California, the team then visits the ghost town of Calico. This town was once a silver mining boomtown in the late 1800s, with a population of around 1,200 people. As with the other ghost towns, Calico's silver reserves were eventually depleted, leading to its abandonment. However, unlike some of the other ghost towns, Calico has been preserved as a tourist attraction and is a popular destination for ghost hunters.

Finally, the team heads to Nevada to investigate the once-thriving town of Goldfield. Goldfield was founded in 1902 and had a population of around 20,000 people, making it one of the largest towns in Nevada at the time. However, as with many other towns, its fortune took a decline, and by the 1920s, it was abandoned. Here, the team investigates the strange sightings of ghostly apparitions that have been reported in the area.

Throughout the episode, the team delves deep into the history and mysteries of these ghost towns, uncovering secrets that have remained hidden for decades. They explore the ruins of once-thriving communities, examine strange phenomena, and try to piece together the events that led to these towns' ultimate demise. Ghost Town Terror is an intense and mystifying episode that will captivate viewers and leave them questioning the forces that led to these ghost towns' slow and eerie decay.
