Ep 1. First Strike

In the season 2 premiere of Wicked Tuna: North vs. South, titled "First Strike," the competition between northern and southern fishermen heats up as they set out to catch as much bluefin tuna as possible. The episode begins with Captain Greg Mayer of the North Carolina-based Fishin' Frenzy and Captain Tyler McLaughlin of the Massachusetts-based Pinwheel teaming up to take on their mutual rival, Captain Dave Marciano of the Hard Merchandise. The three boats race to catch the first fish of the season, knowing that the team with the first catch will have a significant advantage when it comes to selling their fish at the dock.
Meanwhile, the rest of the northern and southern boats set out to sea, each with their own strategies for catching the prized bluefin. Captain TJ Ott of the Hot Tuna believes that fishing at night will give him an edge over his competition, while Captain Brittney Parker of the Reel Twisted comes up with a creative way to attract fish to her boat. As the day progresses, some of the boats struggle to find any fish at all, while others, like Captain Charlie Griffin of the Fish Hawk, have a successful day on the water.
Back on the Fishin' Frenzy, Captain Mayer and Captain McLaughlin finally hook their first fish of the season, but things quickly go awry when the bluefin begins to pull the boat in the wrong direction. With the fisherman struggling to hold on to the line, the boat is in danger of capsizing, and it's up to the crew to work together to bring the fish on board. Meanwhile, Captain Marciano and his crew on the Hard Merchandise finally get their own catch, but it's far from smooth sailing for them as well.
As the day draws to a close, it becomes clear that some of the boats will have to spend another day out at sea without a catch, while others will be heading back to the dock with multiple fish to sell. The competition between the north and south heats up as the captains try to outdo each other, and tensions run high as they jockey for the best position at the dock.
