Ep 6. Primal Fear

Xtreme Waterparks season 8 episode 6, titled "Primal Fear," takes us on an adrenaline-fueled tour of some of the most extreme waterparks in the world. From death-defying drops to heart-racing slides, this episode features some of the most advanced and thrilling water rides on the planet.

We start off in Malaysia at the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, home to the Vuvuzela, one of the tallest water slides in the world. Standing at a whopping 11 stories high, the Vuvuzela is not for the faint of heart. Riders climb to the top of the slide before taking a deep breath and plunging down at speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Due to the steep nature of the ride, riders experience increased gravitational forces, making it feel like they're riding a roller coaster. We meet a group of friends who are experiencing the Vuvuzela for the first time and capture their reactions as they are hurled from one end of the slide to the other.

Next, we head to the United States to experience Hurricane Harbor, a water park located in Six Flags Over Georgia. Here, we encounter a ride called the Tsunami Surge, a slide designed to give riders the sensation of surfing. The Tsunami Surge is unique in that it features a totally enclosed capsule at the beginning of the ride, which opens to send riders plummeting down a curved slide before launching them up a giant wave. We follow two best friends as they gear up to tackle the Tsunami Surge, and witness their screams and shouts of excitement as they ride the wave.

Our next stop is in Dubai, where we visit the Aquaventure Waterpark located on the iconic Palm Jumeirah. Here, we encounter the Leap of Faith, a slide that is not for the faint of heart. The Leap of Faith is a nearly vertical slide that sends riders down a near-free fall drop of over nine stories before plummeting through a shark-filled lagoon. This ride is not recommended for those with a fear of heights or a fear of sharks! We chat with a group of international tourists who are visiting the park for the first time, and follow along as they challenge each other to ride the Leap of Faith.

Our last stop is in Germany, where we visit the world-famous Waterpark Galaxy Erding, home to over 20 thrilling water slides and attractions. Here, we experience the Black Mamba, a dark slide that sends riders hurtling down a series of twists and turns in total darkness. Using strobe lights and projection mapping, the Black Mamba creates a uniquely disorienting experience that leaves riders breathless by the time they exit the slide.
