In Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon season 1 episode 4, the trio of half-demon princesses continue on their journey to collect the scattered pieces of the Shikon Jewel. Along the way, they come across a village that is being terrorized by a demon known as the Tree of Ages. The villagers explain that the Tree has been causing crops to fail and forcing them to offer sacrifices to appease it.
Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha decide to investigate and soon find themselves face-to-face with the Tree of Ages. The demon is revealed to be a massive, sentient tree that can manipulate time and space. It has been stealing the life force of the villagers in order to prolong its own existence.
The princesses quickly realize that the Tree of Ages is too powerful for them to defeat alone. They seek the help of a powerful demon slayer, Hisui, who is also the younger brother of Setsuna.
Hisui agrees to help them defeat the Tree of Ages, but warns them that it will not be easy. He reveals that the demon's weakness lies in a small, glowing fruit that grows on one of its branches.
The group devises a plan to distract the Tree of Ages while Hisui retrieves the fruit. However, the plan quickly goes awry as the Tree of Ages uses its powers to trap the princesses in a pocket dimension where time moves differently.
The princesses must work together to escape the pocket dimension and rejoin Hisui in the real world. With Hisui's help, they are able to retrieve the fruit and defeat the Tree of Ages.
After the battle, Hisui reveals that he has been searching for Setsuna for many years. He explains that when they were young, Setsuna was taken by a demon and he has been searching for her ever since.
Setsuna is visibly shaken by this revelation and does not know how to react. Towa and Moroha comfort her and vow to help her find out more about her past.
The episode ends with the trio continuing on their journey, with Setsuna now carrying the small fruit from the Tree of Ages. They are still unsure of what lies ahead, but are determined to face any challenge together.
