Ep 5. New Blood

In season four, episode five of Yukon Men, titled "New Blood," the remote village of Tanana, Alaska is beginning to experience major changes. Another major plotline involves Joey Zuray and his family, who own a store in Tanana. The Zurays have been struggling financially, and Joey decides to take a job in the mining industry to try and make some extra money. However, he quickly learns that the work is extremely dangerous and physically taxing, and he has difficulty adjusting to the new environment.

Throughout the episode, tensions run high between those who want to preserve their traditional, subsistence way of life and those who see the potential for economic growth and prosperity in the changing landscape.
