Billu, is a Hindi movie originally released as Billu Barber, which is also the US title. Billu was released February 13, 2009, directed by Priyadashan, and produced by Red Chilies Entertainment. The screenplay was adapted from a script by Sreenivasan, by Mushtaq Sheikh and Manisha Korde. This Bollywood film is an adaptation of the Malayam film, Kadha Paraymbol. The movie retells the story of Sudama and Krishna, through the story of Billu,(played by Irrfan Khan) an impoverished barber in Budbuda village. Billu, his spouse, Bindiya (played by Lara Dutta) and their two children Gunja, (played by Mitali Mayakar) and Ronak, (played by Pratik Dalvi). The family has been struggling to make ends meet, ever since a modern hair dressing salon opened in the village, taking much of Billu's business. The peaceful ambiance of the village is shattered when movie star Sahir, comes to Budbuda to shoot a movie scene. Billu had told his wife and children that he knew Sahir (Shahrukh Khan) in the past, without specifying their connection. When the villagers found out that Billu knew Sahir, from Billu's son's boasting, Billu was pestered by people who wanted to be introduced to the movie star.
