In the movie R.I.P.D. from 2013, Ryan Reynolds plays Nick Walker, a Boston police officer who is killed in the line of duty. Rather than moving on to the afterlife, Nick finds himself recruited into the Rest In Peace Department, a supernatural police force tasked with capturing rogue souls who have escaped judgment. Nick's new partner is Roy Pulsipher, played by Jeff Bridges. Roy is a grizzled and experienced veteran of the R.I.P.D. who is still bitter about being killed in the Wild West over a century ago. Together, Nick and Roy must work to uncover a conspiracy that threatens to destroy both the afterlife and the living world.

Their investigation leads them to Mary-Louise Parker's character, Proctor, who serves as their boss and liaison to the living world. Proctor is a no-nonsense bureaucrat who is constantly cleaning up after Nick and Roy's messes. As they work to unravel the conspiracy, Nick and Roy encounter a variety of supernatural creatures, including undead gunslingers, giant insects, and demons.

The movie is based on the comic book series of the same name, and it plays out like a supernatural buddy cop movie. Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges have great chemistry as the odd couple partners, with Reynolds playing the straight man to Bridges' eccentric cowboy. Bridges is particularly entertaining to watch as he chews up the scenery with his over-the-top performance.

Visually, the movie is impressive, with the R.I.P.D. headquarters and the afterlife itself depicted as a bustling metropolis filled with strange creatures and objects. The action sequences are well-choreographed and use a mixture of practical and CGI effects to create some truly memorable set pieces.

The movie's humor is hit-and-miss, with some jokes falling flat while others land perfectly. There's a lot of levity to balance out the darker moments, and the movie never takes itself too seriously.

However, the movie is not without its flaws. The pacing can be a bit uneven, and some of the characters, particularly the villains, are underdeveloped. The movie also doesn't explore its concept as deeply as it could have, with the afterlife and how it works remaining largely unexplored.

Overall, R.I.P.D. is an entertaining supernatural romp that will appeal to fans of buddy cop movies and supernatural thrillers. The movie's strengths lie in its performances and visuals, which make up for some of its weaker elements. While it may not be a classic, it's a fun popcorn flick that is well worth checking out.

R.I.P.D. is a 2013 fantasy movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6 and a MetaScore of 25.
