Ep 1. First Kiss

First Kiss is the debut episode of the anime series Blood+. The story follows Saya Otonashi, a seemingly ordinary high school girl with amnesia and some strange, recurring dreams. Though she may appear ordinary, Saya is far from it. She's under the protection of a secret organization known as the Red Shield and is actually a powerful vampire warrior who has been alive for over a century.

The episode begins with Saya in school, where she's having a difficult time remembering the lesson. She's slightly different from her classmates, who are all giggling over their crushes and ideal dates. Saya seems like she wants to fit in with them, but something holds her back.

After school, she's making her way home when she spots a strange man in a black cloak. Saya becomes frightened and runs away, but the man follows her. Unbeknownst to her, this man is a monster called a Chiropteran, a type of vampiric creature that feeds on humans.

Saya narrowly escapes, but she's badly shaken by the encounter. When she reaches home, she's greeted by an old man named Hagi, who has been watching over her and protecting her for years. Hagi gives Saya a sword and warns her of the danger that surrounds her. She has to be ready to fight at a moment's notice.

The following day, Saya returns to school and can't help but feel out of place. But things get even stranger when a transfer student arrives in her class. His name is Joel, and he seems oddly familiar to Saya. She realizes that she's been dreaming about him, but she can't remember why.

As Saya tries to figure out her past and her connection to Joel, ominous things continue to happen around her. Chiropteran attacks are on the rise, and Saya realizes that she's the only one who can stop them. In a desperate attempt to protect her, Hagi arranges for Saya to move to an isolated countryside house where the Red Shield can train her to fight and protect herself from the Chiropterans.

Blood+ is not your typical vampire story. There's an underlying theme of family, trust, and loyalty in the show. Saya is not just a vampire and a warrior, but she's also a daughter, a sister, and a friend. She's surrounded by people who care for her and are willing to put their lives on the line to protect her.

The episode is filled with action and suspense. There's an excellent use of animation, music, and sound effects to build up tension and set the tone for the show. The character development is also solid, with a lot of hints dropped about Saya's past and her relationships with the people around her.

Overall, First Kiss is a great introduction to the Blood+ series. It sets up the story and the characters nicely, leaving just enough unanswered questions to keep viewers engaged and eager to watch the next episode.
