Cory Matthews is excited about the upcoming school play, but he's not too thrilled about being cast as a tree. Along with his friend Shawn, they both ponder about why they were chosen for such small parts instead of the starring roles they were hoping for. When Shawn asks the director, Mr. Turner, why they weren't cast in bigger roles, Turner tells them they should focus on enjoying their part and not worry about their role size.

As rehearsals continue, Cory becomes frustrated with his part and feels like he's wasting his time. Meanwhile, his friend Topanga is cast as the lead, and she couldn't be happier. She spends all her time rehearsing and is committed to doing her best in the play. Cory takes inspiration from her hard work and begins to give his all in his role as a tree.

Things start to go wrong during one of the rehearsals when Topanga becomes ill, and the play is just around the corner. Mr. Turner is worried they won't be able to put on the play, but Cory comes up with an idea to save the show. With the help of Shawn, they create a new ending to the play, which requires all the characters to improvise and act without a script.

On the night of the play, the audience is entertained by the new ending, which is a great success. The cheerleaders, who were not in the original script, put on a fantastic routine, and every character gets their moment in the spotlight. Topanga recovers and is able to perform, which is a relief for everyone involved. The play is a hit, and even Cory is happy with his part, as he realizes that it's not about the size of your role, but the effort you put in.

As the episode draws to a close, Cory reflects on the importance of teamwork and how he's learnt to appreciate his role, no matter how small it may be. The audience sees the importance of every character in a play, and how every member is valued. With the play a success, everyone involved, including Mr. Turner, feels proud of what they've achieved. Cory and Shawn learn a valuable lesson about the importance of commitment, hard work, and putting in your all, no matter how small the part.

Overall, this episode of Boy Meets World shows the importance of teamwork and how every role, no matter how small, is valuable. It teaches children that putting in your all and focusing on your part is more important than worrying about your role size. It highlights the power of improvisation and how it can save a show when things go wrong. Finally, it shows the importance of commitment, hard work, and effort, and how it pays off in the end.
