Ep 8. Teacher's Bet

Mr. Feeny also tells the class that Ms. Miles will be grading the assignment, which raises the stakes of the bet among the boys.

The bet is that whichever one of them receives the highest grade on the assignment receives bragging rights for the rest of the year and a free candy bar. The boys put all their effort into this assignment, trying to outdo each other, and also impress Ms. Miles. But when the grades are announced, it's not what any of them expect. Instead of awarding the highest grade to one of the boys, Ms. Miles gives the highest grade to Topanga.
