Cory Matthews and his best friend Shawn Hunter have been through thick and thin together. They have gone through everything from first love to first heartbreak and have been there for each other through it all. As they prepare to graduate high school, they are faced with one of their biggest challenges yet – saying goodbye to each other as they head off in different directions for college.

The entire Matthews family is excited for Cory as he prepares to walk across the stage and receive his diploma. His parents, Amy and Alan, are beaming with pride as they watch their son grow up before their very eyes. Even his younger sister Morgan is excited for his big day. However, as they gather at the school for the ceremony, Cory can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over him as he thinks about all the memories he has made over the years.

As they make their way into the auditorium, Cory and Shawn are surprised to see Topanga Lawrence, their longtime friend and love interest, waiting for them. She has been away at a writing workshop and they didn’t expect to see her until after graduation. They exchange hugs and catch up on all the details of her trip. Cory can’t stop staring at her, amazed by how beautiful she looks in her graduation gown.

The ceremony begins and the students are called up one by one to receive their diplomas. As Cory waits for his name to be called, he thinks about all the ups and downs he has experienced throughout his high school years. He remembers the first time he met Topanga in the sixth grade and how she challenged him to look at the world in a new way. He remembers the countless times he and Shawn got into trouble and how they always managed to find a way out of it.

Finally, it’s Cory’s turn to walk across the stage. As he accepts his diploma, the entire auditorium erupts into applause. Cory looks out into the crowd and sees all the faces of his family and friends who have supported him over the years. He feels a lump form in his throat as he wonders what the future holds.

After the ceremony, Cory, Shawn, and Topanga head to their favorite hangout spot – Chubbie’s. They sneak in through the back door, just like they used to back in middle school. As they sit at their usual table, they reflect on the past and talk about their plans for the future. Cory is headed to Pennbrook University with Topanga, while Shawn is joining the Peace Corps to travel the world and do some good.

It’s a bittersweet moment for all of them as they realize that this could be the last time they’re all together in this same place. They make a pact to always stay in touch and to never forget the memories they’ve made together. As they hug each other goodbye, Cory can’t help but feel a sense of sadness wash over him. Despite the excitement of the future, he knows that he’s saying goodbye to a part of his life that he’ll never get back.

The episode closes with a montage of the characters saying goodbye to each other and getting ready to begin the next chapter of their lives. Cory and Topanga pack up their car and head off to Pennbrook, while Shawn boards a bus headed towards his new adventures. As the camera fades to black, viewers are left with a sense of hope for what the future holds for these beloved characters.

In “Graduation,” Boy Meets World delivers an emotional and poignant exploration of what it means to say goodbye to a part of your life and move on to new beginnings. With its heartfelt performances and relatable themes, this episode is a fitting finale to the fifth season and a testament to the enduring legacy of this beloved show.
