Ep 10. Guatemala

Bear Grylls is back with his wild adventures, and this time he is in Guatemala, one of the several countries in Central America. The episode takes place in the jaguar-infested jungle of the Peten region, where Bear has to strive to survive the dangerous terrain.

Bear begins his journey in a helicopter, flying across the beautiful waterfall. After landing, Bear observes a group of mayan ruins used by a civilization that built great cities and hieroglyphic writing long before the Europeans arrived. The ruins offer a view of the jungle around, however, bears are quick to point out the dangers in the region, including jaguars, snakes, and other dangerous predators that populate this jungle. As a result, the adventurer has to use all his experience to survive in the tough jungle conditions.

Bear is quick to move on to his next challenge, which is the long river in the region. He photographs some of the exotic bird species found in the jungle while he walks for miles through the rough terrain. Bear also traverses the river by swimming, and he encounters many crocodiles, a common sight in the region.

As lunchtime arrives, Bear prepares to feed on some of the 'arnicilla,' a type of fruit consumed in Latin America. However, finding food in the jungle is a matter of survival. So he sets off to hunt down one of the jungle's most potent predators, the snake. Bear catches his first kill on the region and makes a fire from the dry leaves available in the jungle. With the fire, Bear prepares his dinner by frying the snake meat in coconut oil.

As the night draws nearer, Bear is left unprotected in the jungle. He protects himself by finding a safe place to spend the night and start a campfire to keep warm. He also shares survival tips while on his night in the jungle. The campfire offers Bear the opportunity to narrate stories about the region's first people who had lived in the place decades before.

In the morning, Bear continues with his journey across the jungle. He encounters other dangerous predators, with the dense canopy providing shelter to some of the animals from their predators. Bear has to traverse across the canopies of the trees to get to his next point. He also needs to climb a huge tree to get into a platform where the researchers studying the jungle's canopy spend their nights.

Finally, Grylls reaches the end of his journey, where he interacts with the locals and learns about their traditions. Guatemala's people retain deep-rooted cultural values and habits that have been passed down through generations. The interview showcases the traditional aspect of the Guatemalan life.
