Ep 1. Not So Happy Campers Part 1

In the first episode of Total Drama Island, titled "Not So Happy Campers Part 1," we are introduced to the 22 contestants who will be vying for the grand prize of $100,000. The contestants, ranging in age from 16 to 18, are all excited to begin their adventure at the titular island. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when they arrive at the campsite and meet their host, Chris McLean.

After introducing himself to the contestants, Chris explains the rules of the game- the contestants will be divided into two teams, the Screaming Gophers and the Killer Bass, and will compete in various challenges to avoid elimination. The losing team will have to vote off one of their members each episode until only one remains.

The first challenge is a cliff-diving competition, which proves to be a difficult task for some of the contestants. However, DJ impresses everyone with his smooth dive, and the Screaming Gophers secure the win.

As the contestants settle in for their first night on the island, tensions begin to rise between certain members of the groups. Heather, a self-proclaimed "queen bee," immediately rubs some of her fellow contestants the wrong way. Meanwhile, Owen's constant eating habits become a source of annoyance for some of his teammates.

Later on, Chris reveals that the losing team will have to vote off one of their members at the first elimination ceremony. The contestants all begin strategizing and making alliances in an attempt to avoid being voted off.

In the end, the Killer Bass lose the first challenge, and must vote off one of their own. After some deliberation, they decide to vote off Ezekiel, who had made a few inappropriate comments throughout the episode.

As the first episode of Total Drama Island comes to a close, the contestants all begin to realize that this is not going to be the easy vacation they had initially anticipated. With alliances being formed and eliminations looming, the competition is only going to get more intense.
