The UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson event from Zuffa LLC took place on September 21st, 2013 in Toronto, Canada. This was a highly anticipated event as it showcased one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport, Jon Jones, defending his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against the talented Alexander Gustafsson.

The event featured a card of 12 fights, with a combination of fighters from various weight classes including bantamweight, lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight divisions. The event was electric with a packed house of passionate MMA fans in attendance.

The main event was the highly anticipated championship bout between Jones and Gustafsson. Jones came into the fight as the heavy favorite, having already defended his title five times prior to this fight. Gustafsson, on the other hand, was the underdog with many fans and analysts believing he was overmatched against the champion.

From the opening bell, Gustafsson proved that he belonged in the cage with Jones. Gustafsson was able to use his length and height advantage to keep Jones at bay, utilizing his boxing and footwork to stay away from Jones' dangerous kicks and punches. Gustafsson showed incredible takedown defense, stuffing any attempts by Jones to take the fight to the ground.

Jones, one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history, was unable to impose his will on Gustafsson. Gustafsson was able to utilize his striking to land a number of significant strikes on Jones, making his grappling advantage almost obsolete. Jones, who often dominates his opponents, was finding it difficult to get in close to Gustafsson and began to show signs of fatigue as the fight went on.

Despite the later rounds being closer, it seemed as though Jones was pulling ahead as the fight went on. Jones then came alive in the championship rounds, using his grappling to take Gustafsson down and deliver devastating ground and pound. Gustafsson was battered and bruised, but he refused to quit and continued to fight until the final bell sounded.

In the end, it was a closely contested fight with both men earning praise for their incredible performances. The result of the fight was not clear cut, leading to a split decision by the three judges which left many fans in attendance and watching at home on the edge of their seats.

The co-main event featured a bout between two heavyweight contenders, Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione. Schaub, who had a background in boxing, opened the bout by keeping Mitrione at a distance with his jab. Mitrione, a former NFL player, tried to close the distance and use his striking power, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

As the fight progressed, Schaub began to tire and Mitrione began to gain the upper hand. Mitrione landed a devastating knee to Schaub's chin in the first round, causing Schaub to go down and prompting the referee to stop the fight.

The rest of the card featured an exciting mix of fighters, with notable performances by Khabib Nurmagomedov, who won his fight with a dominant performance against Pat Healy, and Francis Carmont, who edged out a split decision win over Costa Philippou.

Overall, UFC 165 was a memorable event with one of the most highly anticipated title fights in UFC history. The event showcased exciting fights, incredible performances, and left fans eager for more action.
