Woke Up Dead is a horror-comedy television series that premiered in 2009 on Crackle Originals. The show stars Jon Heder, who gained fame for his role as Napoleon Dynamite, as a college student named Drex Greene who dies and comes back to life as a zombie. The show opens with Drex waking up in a bathtub, confused and disoriented. He soon discovers that he is dead, but somehow still walking and talking. He also learns that he has been dead for two days and no one has been able to find his body.

Drex sets out to find out how he died and how he can return to the land of the living. Along the way, he meets a group of other undead individuals who are also trying to figure out what happened to them. Together, they navigate the world of the living and the dead, trying to find answers and avoid being captured by the government.

As Drex comes to terms with his undead status, he discovers that he has some new abilities that he never had before. For example, he can smell the living and the dead, making him a valuable asset to his new undead friends. He also has enhanced strength and agility, allowing him to perform feats that he never could before.

One of the central plot threads of the show is Drex's relationship with his ex-girlfriend Cassie, played by Krysten Ritter. Cassie is initially skeptical of Drex's claims that he is a zombie, but eventually comes around to the idea and joins forces with him to uncover the truth about what happened to him.

Throughout the show, Drex and Cassie are pursued by a government agent named Sarge, played by Josh Gad. Sarge is convinced that the undead are a threat to national security and is determined to capture them all and bring them to the government for study.

Woke Up Dead blends horror and comedy elements in a way that is both entertaining and engaging. The show has a unique premise that allows for plenty of creative storytelling, as well as some great comedic moments. Jon Heder is perfectly cast as Drex, bringing his trademark deadpan humor to the role.

The show also features some great supporting performances, particularly from Krysten Ritter and Josh Gad. Ritter brings a sense of vulnerability and emotional depth to her role as Cassie, while Gad is hilarious as the bumbling and inept Sarge.

One of the strengths of Woke Up Dead is its use of practical effects. The makeup and prosthetics used to create the undead characters are impressive and help to bring the world of the show to life. The show also makes great use of its locations, with plenty of outdoor scenes that give the show a cinematic quality.

Overall, Woke Up Dead is a fun and entertaining show that will appeal to fans of horror and comedy alike. The show's unique premise, great performances, and clever storytelling make it a standout entry in the horror-comedy genre.
