Ajanabee, a 1974 film directed by Shakti Samanta, is a gripping thriller that explores the complexities of relationships, trust, and betrayal. Starring Rajesh Khanna, Zeenat Aman, and Prem Chopra in lead roles, the movie is a must-watch for those who love suspenseful plots with unexpected twists and turns. The movie revolves around the story of two couples - Amar (Rajesh Khanna) and wife Nisha (Yogeeta Bali) and Rajesh (Prem Chopra) with his wife Priya (Asrani), who happen to be neighbors in a lavish apartment complex in Mumbai. Rajesh and Priya arrive after Amar and Nisha, and as they adjust to their new surroundings, they soon strike up a friendship with Amar and Nisha. The two couples are often seen socializing together and enjoying each other's company.

However, as time passes by, the cracks in the relationship start to appear, and it becomes apparent that all is not well between Amar and Nisha. They are constantly fighting and seem to have drifted apart. One day, while returning from a party, Amar and Rajesh get into an accident that kills Rajesh. Amar is traumatized by the incident and is unable to cope with the guilt.

Meanwhile, Priya starts to make advances towards Amar, who is still struggling to come to terms with the accident. Priya's behavior becomes increasingly obsessive, and Amar starts to feel trapped in the web of her love. As things start to spiral out of control, Amar decides to leave Mumbai with Nisha to start afresh.

However, things take a dramatic turn as a stranger enters their lives claiming to be someone who knows about the accident. This stranger starts to blackmail Amar and Nisha, and they soon realize that they are caught in a dangerous game that could end their lives. The revelations that follow will keep the audience on the edge of their seats as the twists and turns unfold.

Rajesh Khanna played the character of Amar, the troubled husband, with a lot of emotional power and intensity, making his performance a highlight of the movie. The chemistry between Zeenat Aman, who played the obsessive Priya and Rajesh Khanna was also notable, as their on-screen relationship evolved from friendship to obsession. Zeenat Aman's performance, too, was appreciated as she played a complex character with a lot of conviction.

Prem Chopra, who played the role of Rajesh, was brilliant in his portrayal of a man who loses his life in an accident. He brought a sense of pathos to the character which was truly commendable. The supporting cast comprising of Yogeeta Bali and Asrani also put in noteworthy performances.

One of the standout features of Ajanabee is its music. The movie boasts of some timeless tracks such as "Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein" and "Tumse Milkar Na Jaane Kyun" which have become classics in their own right.

In conclusion, Ajanabee is a compelling watch that offers a gripping plot, strong performances, and excellent music. It's a testament to the fact that good storytelling never goes out of style.
