Big Fat Liar is a film about a young boy named Jason who constantly lies in his everyday life. Being known at school as an extremely big liar, he has lost his trust in his parents' eyes because he always makes up extremely bad lies for his inadequacies at school. After not being able to write a creative writing paper, his teacher forces him to finish the paper and go back to school by 6pm. On his way back to school, he ends up getting hit by a producer Marty Wolf, and asks if he can catch a ride towards his school. He ends up leaving his written paper in the producer's car. The problem is that Marty liked his creative paper and decides to make his own movie about it. Jason ends up thinking that he just left it in the car, but when he sees Marty on television talking about how he so nicely came up with the movie idea, he finds a way to get back his chance to show everybody that he came up with that story. After catching a ride to Hollywood with his best friend Kaylee, they catch a ride to Marty's Studio. Jason then gets the chance to speak with Marty, and Marty remembers what had happened but makes Jason feel bad by burning his paper. Marty also says that this is a business, so he tells Jason to accept the fact that his story is going to be his. Jason feels furious about what happened, so he ruins Marty's life. Jason finds that the people whom Marty works with do not like him, so he gets all of them to make Marty experience the same hurt he put on them. After they trick him into making him confess that Jason wrote the story, the media and press find out and Jason ends up gaining back the trust of his parents. The story was also made into a movie with Jason's name at the top.
