The plot of Bug centers around a lonely lesbian who binges on alcohol and drugs to cope with the pain of the disappearance of her son. She finds herself in a bind and is living in a rundown motel and begins to receive strange silent phone calls that she assumes are her ex-husband. She is introduced to a gentleman named Peter who is a soldier, and they enter into a relationship together. Things seem to be going well between them until Peter informs her that her mysterious phone calls are from the government. She quickly learns that Peter is paranoid and begins to tell stories of things that can’t possibly be true. He tells stories of bugs and how they along with the government are out to get him. He truly believes the government and the bugs are out to destroy him. Agnes needs to find a way to make him understand that his paranoid behavior is unacceptable, and he needs to seek help.
