Chi-Raq 2015 is based on the story of a girlfriend of a Chicago gang leader convinces other women ro abstain from sexual intercourse until thir men come to an agreement to end the ruthless and senseless violence. Chi-Raq 2015 is directed by Spike Lee. Chi-Raq is a film which depicts the violence, gun worship and violent gang behavior within the South side of Chicago. The movie is a combination of unrest, street violence and typical street behavior. Curiously enough this film is actually based on a Greek comedy play. The women depicted in this film actually feel that they are seriously punishing their men because of their willingness to engage in war and bloodshed. The film was released within the United States on December 4, 2015. Chi-Raq did receive positive reviews from most movie critics. However, there are some contravertial scenes that are evident throughout the entire film. Actually, it was suggested the Lee change the title of this film however he refused to do so. The film does have some graphic scenes. This is important to keep in mind for younger viewers who may be disturbed by certain violent scenes. Some feel that the film caused unrest and indifferent feelings from residents within the Chicago area. Even the Mayor of Chicago has voiced his dismay especially because of the title of the movie. The Mayor fears the film in general could ignite bitterness and violence within the streets of Chicago. Apparently. murder rates are or have been on the rise in Chicago within the past few years. Lee made the film in hopes that it may help some young people to stay on the right track and steer clear if any crime, theft and street violence.
