Jackson, Patrick Wilson, Kerry Washington and Ron Glass. Newlyweds Chris and Lisa Mattson seem to have it all; the careers of their choice and now they have just bought their first home in the posh, gated community of Lakeview Terrace. The only thing that is notably different with this young couple is Chris happens to be Caucasian and his beautiful wife Lisa is African-American. This interracial couple has never had a problem with making friends or fitting in before, until they move into Lakeview Terrace. Their next door neighbor is Abel Turner who has worked for the LAPD for 28 years and as a widow is raising his two young children. As Marcus and Celia are leaving for school in the morning, Lisa and Chris are moving in next door. The children are excited to meet their new neighbors but their father does not seem to be as thrilled and it becomes obvious that he objects to interracial marriages. Lisa feels that Chris is overreacting and encourages him to invite Abel to their housewarming party. After just speaking with him, Chris realizes that Abel is prejudice and finds out that Abel’s wife died in a fatal car accident when she was out with her white boss instead of being in work. To complicate the already tense situation, there is a wildfire that is raging in the hills that surround Lakeview Terrace. What starts out as a difference of opinion quickly escalates into harassment and Abel has the upper hand as he hides behind his shield. Tensions mound when Lisa finds out she is pregnant, their home gets broken into and the LAPD seem to not want to interfere. As the wildfire creeps closer to their home and the harassment has turned into violence, Lisa and Chris begin to fear for their lives.
