Mad About Men is a 1954 British comedy directed by Ralph Thomas. One of the main characters in the film is a mermaid named Miranda. Mad About Men was preceded by another film titled Miranda. The basic plot concerns a schoolteacher named Caroline who goes on holiday to her home in Cornwall. She meets a distant relative who happens to be a mermaid named Miranda. Caroline and Miranda are exact look-alikes. (Glynis Johns plays both roles. She also played Miranda in the original film.)

The two decide to trade places. Caroline tells everyone she has had an accident that confines her to a wheelchair for a temporary period of time. Miranda begins to cause trouble when she meets Caroline’s fiancée Ronald. She dislikes Ronald and thinks that Caroline can do much better. She begins flirting with two eligible bachelors who think that she is Caroline.
