The film entitled Personal Effects is all about the life and challenges faced by a young man named Walters and his family. It all started when Walters who was a successful wrestler resigned from his team and decided to go back home to join his mother and niece after he found out about the cruel murder of his sister Gloria. When he got home he realized how much his mother and niece needed him so he started working very hard to support the family. Fortunately for him he succeeded in finding a job which was rather tedious but he worked extremely hard to cope. Apart from working he accompanied his mother to therapy so many times. During one of such trips to the center he came across a lady named Linda whose husband had been murdered by a friend and so she was raising her son Clay while awaiting judgment for the case. What made it even challenging was the fact that Clay was deaf. The two families become very close as Walter's mother also developed interest in Linda and Clay. The friendship between Linda and Walters continuing growing and they started a relationship. Walters and Linda always went to the courthouse for the hearing of their cases together and stayed close to each other even as they awaited the final verdict. Walters decided to teach Clay how to wrestle and got him enrolled at the local training center. Clay accepted but he was still very bitter about his father's death. The film was created based on the inspiration obtained from one of Rick Moody's books and it was directed by David Hollander. It was produced by David Hollander, Gil Netter, Kirk Shaw, Tim McGrath. Distribution was done by Screen Media Films. The characters in the film include Kathy Bates starring as Gloria, Ashton Kutcher as Walter, Michelle Pfeiffer starring as Linda.
