Run Ronnie Run is about a man named Ronnie Dobbs. Ronnie is a born trouble-maker who is more than happy to live his life in wild, rambunctious way. Because Ronnie sees himself as a rebel, he does not mind committing the occasional petty crime. However, Ronnie is also not that bright, so he usually gets caught trying to steal or commit some other minor offense. Because of his outgoing personality, Ronnie becomes something of a celebrity when he is featured on the show "Fuzz," which films criminals getting caught in the act. Ronnie loves the extra attention that the TV show provides, and goes out of his way to get caught for his crimes so he can be on the show. Eventually, an episode of "Fuzz" featuring Ronnie is seen by Terry Twillstein, an inventor and producer of late-night infomercial fodder. Terry realizes that Ronnie is a hero to many lowbrow viewers, so he comes up with a plan to get Ronnie his own show. He pitches the show "Ronnie Dobbs Gets Arrested" to various TV executives. The show basically revolves around Ronnie committing a dumb crime and getting caught in a different city each week. This, of course, begins to affect his life in dramatic ways, forcing him to realize how much he has changed. Run Ronnie Run tries to analyze how fortune and fame can change a person.
