The World is predicted to be at risk from a dangerously large solar flare that many scientists believe will destroy all life on Earth. Into this mission a group of astronauts is assembled and dispatched on the Helius spacecraft to drop a huge bomb onto the surface of the Sun and redirect the expected flare from reaching the Earth. One of the team, Teague, has his own reasons for hoping both the mission and the flare fail and benefit his Giant IXL Corporation.
