Eddie Keller is a Vietnam veteran who has just returned from war. Not only did he see battle, but he was imprisoned for a time in a prisoner of war camp. Hence, he is greeted with great fanfare as a hero by friends, relatives and even strangers in his hometown. However, the warm welcome wears off before too long as everyone else goes back to their regular lives. That is when Eddie comes to realize that his life has changed forever, and he now must figure out how to operate in a world that no longer makes sense to him.
