How eventful could a dance marathon be? As Robert Syverton soon discovers, it can in fact be fraught with many twists and turns. At stake in the little LA Monica Dance-hall is more than the $1,500 first prize. Robert wasn't originally entered, but is asked to join forces with a bitter woman named Gloria who loses he partner at the last minute. Through the duration of the weeks-long dance contest, Robert is given life lessons about the frailties and vulnerabilities of people. In the process, he learns more about himself.
