Ep 1. Pilot: Catfish

Jack Griffin, a disgraced Harvard professor, moves to Toledo, Ohio, after losing his dream job and his lavish lifestyle. Griffin sets up residence in his deceased mother's apartment and takes up a job as a high school Advanced Placement (AP) biology teacher, only because he needs to pay his bills.

On his first day of school, Griffin begins his lesson by asking the students to take out their phones and start a game on a screen. The students are thrilled at this unexpected instruction. Meanwhile, the school's Principal, Ralph Durbin, makes an announcement warning the students about their new teacher and his bad reputation.

Griffin, who has no interest in teaching, tells his students that the course they are going to take is meaningless and encourages them instead to enjoy their youth and party and make their own memories, rather than just memorizing various biological terms. Unsurprisingly, this does not go down well with the school administration, and it lands Griffin in hot water.

Fortunately, one of his students, a socially awkward and tech-savvy student named Samuel, comes to Griffin's rescue and helps him fight back against Principal Durbin's tattletale tactics. Samuel sets up a fake Facebook account to trap Durbin, who is trying to get Griffin fired.

Meanwhile, the story also focuses on one of Griffin's students named Heather, who initially appears to be an ordinary student. She tries to impress her fellow classmates by telling them that she went to a party where she met a DJ named Ibiza (pronounced "Eye-bee-tha"), who is actually a made-up character, Heather has created to impress her classmates since she desires to be more popular.

Griffin ends up discovering Heather's lie when he attends the party and finds out that there was no such DJ as Ibiza. Seeing this as an opportunity to take revenge, Griffin decides to take Heather under his wing and teach her how to become the most popular girl in school.

In summary, the show A.P. Bio is a hilarious satire that pokes fun at high school stereotypes and social dynamics. The first episode of the series sets up the premise in an entertaining way, introducing us to the witty protagonist, the eclectic students, and the school faculty. It's a breath of fresh air in terms of comedy, and the characters are well-written and well-acted. The plot may seem familiar, but the show's execution and humor make it worth watching.
