As the title suggests, "A Lack of Problems Is All You Need" follows the characters in a moment of relative peace. The episode starts with a relaxed atmosphere as Itsuki and Miyako spend the day together playing video games, eating snacks and chatting. The comfortable silence between the two is disturbed only by Itsuki's frustration with his work.
As per usual, Itsuki quickly retreats to his room and starts working on his novel. He is interrupted mid-work by Nayuta, who comes to visit and brings along her editor, Setsuna. Nayuta, who has been mostly absent in the previous episodes, reveals that she has been secretly dating Setsuna and wants to introduce him to Itsuki.
The awkwardness is palpable as Itsuki realizes that he doesn't actually know anything about Nayuta's private life. Meanwhile, Setsuna, who seems to be used to Nayuta's eccentricities, is almost too chill and laid back about the whole situation. The tension is only increased when Nayuta reveals that Setsuna is actually the one who is in charge of the novel contest that Itsuki has been stressing about.
In true Nayuta fashion, she has been dating Setsuna for a while without telling Itsuki, and Setsuna has been helping her with the contest under the guise of an anonymous editor. The reveal is a bit anticlimactic, and neither Itsuki nor the audience are particularly surprised.
After Nayuta and Setsuna leave, Itsuki is left with mixed emotions. On one hand, he is happy for Nayuta, who seems to have found a relationship that works for her. On the other hand, he is still struggling with his writing and his lack of progress.
The conversation is put on pause as Rin, Itsuki's younger stepsister, shows up. Rin is in her final year of high school and has been thinking about what she wants to do after graduation. She confesses to Itsuki that she has been considering becoming a voice actress, something that she has always been passionate about but has been too afraid to pursue.
Itsuki is supportive but also a bit skeptical, given the competitive nature of the industry. Rin also reveals that she has been hesitant to tell their father, who is a prominent figure in the literary world and might not take kindly to her career choice.
As the episode comes to a close, Itsuki and Nayuta have a heart-to-heart conversation about their respective struggles. Nayuta admits that she has been feeling insecure about her own writing, and Itsuki acknowledges that while he has his flaws, he is glad that he has people like Nayuta in his life who support him. The episode ends with Itsuki feeling a sense of renewed motivation, ready to tackle his writing and support Rin in whatever she chooses to do next.
Overall, "A Lack of Problems Is All You Need" is a character-driven episode that allows for some much-needed introspection and reflection. While it may not be the most action-packed or dramatic entry in the series, it does a good job of fleshing out some of the key relationships and dynamics that have been established thus far.
