Ep 1. Episode 1

Rachel works as a project manager for a pharmaceutical company based in Dublin. The company is developing a drug that could potentially cure dementia which is causing havoc in families around the world. After one of her colleagues is found dead on his sofa with no evidence of foul play or suicide, Rachel starts to see that something is afoot. During a meeting with some inquisitive shareholders, Rachel realizes that the drug may not have been tested properly and that the side effects may end up being toxic to the patient's brain.

Rachel is caught off-guard when a journalist informs her that the company's CEO, Patrick, has been arrested in the United States. She soon realizes that he has fled back to Ireland and is planning to hold a press conference to explain his side of the story. Rachel is not convinced that Patrick is innocent, but she is unconvinced that he is guilty either.

Rachel searches for answers with the help of the company's in-house lawyer, Marty. Together they discover that the drug's trial results may have been manipulated. While Marty pushes Rachel to prove her suspicions, Rachel's personal life starts to unravel, making it difficult for her to do her job.

In the meantime, Rachel's husband Peter is on a business trip in Berlin. When he returns to Dublin he brings a colleague, Lee, with him for a company dinner. Rachel notices that Lee and Peter's relationship seems too friendly and she starts to suspect that there is more to their work relationship.

With all of the emotional stress of her job and personal life, it is difficult for Rachel to maintain her work-life balance. She sees a psychiatrist to try to work through her fears and anxieties but, with so much at stake, Rachel's determination and perseverance is tested to the limits.

By the end of the episode, Rachel has uncovered more about the drug trial and the company's CEO, but she is unsure what the next steps should be. As she tries to balance her work and personal life, Rachel comes to a harrowing realization about how the drug trial has affected the lives of others. Acceptable Risk is a taut and compelling thriller, and the first episode sets the stage for a thrilling season of twists and turns that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
