Aerial America takes us to the heartland of the United States—the state of Kansas. From the air, we get an expansive view of the state's many natural wonders, agricultural landscapes, and bustling cities.

Our journey begins with a bird's eye view of Wichita, the largest city in Kansas. We see the Arkansas River weaving through the city, creating a beautiful landscape dotted with bridges and parks. The city is also home to McConnell Air Force Base, which serves as an important training ground for military personnel.

Next, we visit one of Kansas' most iconic landmarks—Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. With vast expanses of grass as tall as a person, this preserve is one of the few remaining places where one can experience the natural beauty of the Great Plains. The reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including bison and prairie dogs.

Our journey then takes us to one of the most famous natural landmarks in the state—the Monument Rocks. These towering limestone formations, believed to be millions of years old, rise out of the flat landscape like ancient skyscrapers. The rocks have been shaped by winds and rain over the millennia, making them a truly unique sight to behold.

As we continue to travel west, we come across the central business district of Kansas City—the largest city in Kansas. From our aerial view, we see the towering corporate buildings and bustling streets that make this city a hub for commerce and entertainment.

One of the state's biggest claims to fame is its agricultural industry. Kansas is known as the "breadbasket of America" because of its vast fields of wheat. From our aerial view, we can see the amber waves of grain stretching out as far as the eye can see. We also visit some of the state's largest cattle ranches, which supply the country with high-quality beef.

Kansas is also home to some fascinating historical landmarks. We visit Abilene, the hometown of former U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower. The town is now a living museum with preserved buildings and artifacts from the era when Eisenhower lived there. We also stop by Dodge City, a town famous for its role in the Wild West. We see the historic Boot Hill Cemetery and the iconic Front Street, which looks much as it did in the days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.

Our journey ends with a visit to one of the most scenic spots in the state—the Konza Prairie Biological Station. This preserve is home to some of the state's most unique flora and fauna, including bison and pronghorns. We get a breathtaking view of the Kansas River Valley, which stretches out beneath us like a patchwork quilt.

From bustling cities to serene fields of wheat, from towering limestone formations to sprawling prairies, episode 27 of Aerial America takes us on a fascinating journey through the heart of Kansas.
