Ep 1. Pilot

Katie Otto has just moved with her husband and three children to Westport, Connecticut, a wealthy and idyllic suburb where all the moms are fit, beautiful, and seemingly perfect. But Katie is far from perfect -- she's overweight, sarcastic, and unapologetically herself. In the pilot episode of American Housewife, Katie navigates her new town as she prepares for her daughter's first day at the local school.

Katie quickly realizes that she doesn't fit in with the other moms, who all seem to be obsessed with green smoothies, organic everything, and staying thin. He tries to impress the other dads by talking about his job, but quickly realizes that they're not interested in academia.

As Katie tries to find her place in Westport, she also has to deal with her youngest child, Oliver, who is too smart for his own good. Oliver is constantly correcting his teachers and classmates, and Katie worries that he's going to become a social outcast like she feels she is. She tries to get him to play with the other kids, but Oliver is more interested in reading "Beowulf."

By the end of the episode, Katie has proven that she's not afraid to speak her mind or stand up for her kids. When she sees that the school's vending machine only sells healthy snacks, she stages a protest and encourages other parents to do the same. She also stands up to Doris, telling her that she's not interested in being part of an exclusive mom clique. And when Oliver is picked on by a group of kids, Katie shows up at the park in her pajamas, ready to defend her son.

Overall, the pilot episode of American Housewife sets up the premise of the show -- a middle-class mom trying to navigate a wealthy town while staying true to herself and her family. The episode is funny, relatable, and heartwarming, and it leaves viewers wanting more.
