Ep 5. The Snub

Katie Otto is a fierce mother of three trying to keep it together and fit in with her rich and skinny neighbors in Westport, Connecticut. In season 1 episode 5 "The Snub," Katie is determined to secure a spot for her youngest daughter Anna-Kat in the elite ballet program at school. However, her efforts are met with snubs and rejection from the snobby mothers who run the program.

Katie feels like a failure as a mother when her daughter is left out of the popular girls' ballet class, so she comes up with a plan to get her in the program. She hosts a "ballet brunch" at her house for the moms and their daughters, but things quickly spiral out of control when her daughter's allergy to nuts is revealed and her house is covered in nut products.

Meanwhile, her husband Greg decides to spend the day golfing with a wealthy client in an effort to secure a new account, but things take a turn when he gets stuck in a sand trap and has to rely on his client's help to get out.

As Katie tries to make amends with the other mothers, she realizes that fitting in with the wealthy and snobby community is not worth sacrificing her own values and beliefs. She ultimately decides to enroll Anna-Kat in a different ballet program that better aligns with their family's values.

In this episode, viewers see Katie struggle with the pressure to conform and fit in with her wealthy neighbors, all while trying to raise her children with her own values and beliefs.
