Ep 9. Hip To Be Square

American Housewife Season 4 Episode 9 "Hip To Be Square" sees the Otto's dealing with a whole host of new family dramas. When a new family moves into the neighborhood, it seems that everyone is eager to impress them and win their friendship. The parents, in particular, seem to be the hottest topic of discussion, with the housewives all vying for a chance to be their BFF.

Katie, as always, isn't really interested in playing the social game. She's more concerned with making sure her children are happy and healthy, and that her husband isn't spreading himself too thin at work. But when she realizes that the new lady of the house is super keen on Texas line dancing, she decides to join her for a class at the local community center.

Meanwhile, Taylor is struggling with her own issues. When her pet turtle dies, she becomes convinced that she's cursed and that anyone who gets too close to her will end up hurt. This results in some seriously strange behavior, including her attempt to sell all of her belongings on the street corner.

Greg, on the other hand, is trying to impress his new business partner, Tolly. Tolly's an old buddy of Greg's from college, and he's also a bit of a wild card. Greg's worried that he'll think he's too boring and not interested enough in the party lifestyle. So, he attempts to get down with some rap music and even jumps on a bicycle to keep up with Tolly's morning workout routine.

Of course, as with all things in the Otto household, things don't go exactly to plan. Katie's line dancing ambitions result in some seriously embarrassing moments, including one where she accidentally sends her cowgirl hat flying across the room. Taylor's curse also seems to be rubbing off on Greg, who experiences some seriously bad luck when Tolly's flashy car gets towed away.

Despite all the chaos, though, the Otto's come together in the end. In a heartwarming scene, they celebrate Taylor's turtle by sending it off to sea in a paper lantern, wish the new neighbors well, and remind each other that they'll always be there for one another, no matter what.

"American Housewife" Season 4 Episode 9 "Hip To Be Square" is a hilarious and heartfelt reminder that family always comes first, no matter what. Whether they're impressing new neighbors, facing down their own fears, or just trying to make each other laugh, the Otto's are a family that's always got each other's back.
