Week 10B: Top 12 Results Show is the twenty-third episode of the sixth season of American Idol. This results show follows the Top 12 performance show, where the 12 remaining contestants performed songs from the year they were born.
The episode begins with host Ryan Seacrest introducing the judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul, before introducing the Top 12 contestants on stage. Ryan then reveals that over 38 million votes were cast the previous night, which sets a new record for the show.
The first group of contestants is brought to the center of the stage, and Ryan reveals the results. The first three contestants, who received the lowest number of votes, are sent to one side of the stage, and the remaining three are sent to the other side. Ryan then asks the judges for their opinion on who should stay and who should go.
After deliberation, Ryan reveals the contestant who received the lowest number of votes, who is then eliminated from the competition. The remaining five contestants are brought to the center of the stage, and the process repeats.
The episode also features guest performances, including former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry, who performs his hit single Home, and Latin music star Jennifer Lopez, who performs her song Que Hiciste.
Throughout the episode, the remaining contestants perform and highlight packages are shown, giving viewers a glimpse into their lives and personalities. The eliminated contestants also return to the stage to say goodbye and perform one last time.
As the episode comes to a close, the remaining contestants are brought to the center of the stage once more. Ryan reveals that next week's theme is songs from the movies and announces the special guest mentor, who will give the contestants advice and feedback on their performances.
The episode ends with a reminder to vote for your favorite contestant and tune in next week for another exciting episode of American Idol.
