Ep 15. Keep on Rockin'

In this episode of American Pickers: Best Of, the hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz venture out on a picking trip in search of rare and unique rock and roll memorabilia. They start off by visiting an old opera house in Red Oak, Iowa, where they meet a collector named Chuck who has an impressive collection of vintage guitars, including a rare 1937 Gibson EH-150 electric guitar. Chuck is willing to part with some of his treasures, but Mike and Frank will have to dig deep to make a deal.

Next up, the duo heads to an estate sale in Illinois, hoping to score some cool rock and roll memorabilia. They come across a French movie poster for the Beatles movie "A Hard Day's Night" and a vintage Rolling Stones concert t-shirt from 1972. However, the real find of the day is a set of original woodblock prints by the famous rock poster artist Gary Grimshaw. The prints depict some of the most iconic music acts of the 1960s, including Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

After a successful day of picking, Mike and Frank head back to their shop, Antique Archaeology, where they show off their latest finds to their team. Among the items they acquired are a vintage Wurlitzer jukebox, a signed copy of musician J.J. Cale's album "Naturally," and a rare promotional poster for The Who's album "Quadrophenia." The team is impressed with the haul and helps Mike and Frank clean up and display their new treasures.

Later, Mike and Frank visit rock and roll memorabilia expert Joel Bassman to get his opinion on some of their recent finds. Joel is particularly impressed with the Gary Grimshaw prints and tells Mike and Frank that they could be worth a small fortune. He suggests they take them to an art dealer for an official appraisal.

The next day, Mike and Frank meet with art dealer Jon Munson to get the prints appraised. Munson is blown away by the Grimshaw prints and appraises them at a whopping $20,000. Mike and Frank are thrilled with the appraisal and decide to hold onto the prints for a while longer before selling them.

Finally, Mike and Frank head to a vintage clothing store in Chicago in search of some rare rock and roll-inspired fashion. They find some cool vintage leather jackets, but the real find of the day is a pair of vintage bell-bottom jeans that were once owned by the legendary rocker Janis Joplin. The jeans are in rough condition, but Mike and Frank are determined to restore them to their former glory.
