Ep 8. Hollywood Hot Rods

In American Pickers season 21 episode 8, entitled "Hollywood Hot Rods," the show's hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are off on another adventure in search of unique and valuable items. This time, their travels take them to southern California, where they're on the hunt for vintage automotive parts and memorabilia.

Their first stop is at a garage owned by Gene Winfield, a legendary hot rod builder who has been in the business for over 70 years. Gene has worked on some of the most iconic cars in Hollywood history, including the vehicles featured in the movies Blade Runner and Back to the Future. Mike and Frank are excited to meet him and see some of his work up close.

Gene is happy to show them around his garage and offers up some of his own personal collection for sale. Among the items they spot are a vintage GE electric fan, a rare air compressor, and some one-of-a-kind hot rod parts. Mike and Frank are impressed by the quality of the items and the story behind them, and they make some good deals with Gene.

Next, Mike and Frank head over to the garage of Dave Shuten, another legendary hot rod builder. Dave has been building cars for over 30 years and has won numerous awards for his work. His garage is full of vintage parts and memorabilia, including a sign from the famous eatery In-N-Out Burger.

Mike and Frank are eager to see some of Dave's cars and he takes them on a tour of his collection. They get to see a 1932 Ford roadster, a 1960 Chevy Impala, and a custom-built car made entirely from scratch. Dave is also happy to show off some of the items in his personal collection, including an old cash register and a vintage phone booth.

As the day goes on, Mike and Frank continue to uncover more and more treasures. They visit a local swap meet and come across some rare and valuable car parts, including a hood ornament from a 1931 Studebaker and a grill from a 1927 Chandler. They also meet some interesting characters, including a man who restores old gas pumps and another who collects vintage license plates.

Throughout the episode, Mike and Frank are on their toes, constantly uncovering new and exciting finds. It's clear that they have a deep appreciation for automotive history and the people who have dedicated their lives to preserving it. As they load up their van and hit the road once again, it's clear that this latest adventure has been a success.
